How to Check the Version of Apache Installed on Linux

You can easily determine which version of Apache running on your Linux server by using any command given below:

 httpd -v

OR

 apachectl -v

Check the Version of Apache using httpd command

Running the httpd -v command will give you an output that will look like this:

[root@server ~]# httpd -v
Server version: Apache/2.2.3
Server built:   Oct 27 2011 11:52:11

For more details, you can use the command httpd -V, which shows the other details along with the Apache version. In this case version of Apache running on the server is Apache/2.2.3

[root@server ~]# httpd -V
Server version: Apache/2.2.3
Server built:   Oct 27 2011 11:52:11
Server's Module Magic Number: 20051115:3
Server loaded:  APR 1.2.7, APR-Util 1.2.7
Compiled using: APR 1.2.7, APR-Util 1.2.7
Architecture:   32-bit
Server MPM:     Prefork
  threaded:     no
    forked:     yes (variable process count)
Server compiled with....
 -D APACHE_MPM_DIR="server/mpm/prefork"
 -D APR_HAS_SENDFILE
 -D APR_HAS_MMAP
 -D APR_HAVE_IPV6 (IPv4-mapped addresses enabled)
 -D APR_USE_SYSVSEM_SERIALIZE
 -D APR_USE_PTHREAD_SERIALIZE
 -D SINGLE_LISTEN_UNSERIALIZED_ACCEPT

Check the Version of Apache using apachectl command

Running the apachectl -v command will give you an output that will look like this:

[root@server ~]# apachectl -v
Server version: Apache/2.2.3
Server built:   Oct 27 2011 11:52:46

For more details, you can use the command apachectl -V, which shows the other details along with the Apache version. In this case version of Apache running on the server is Apache/2.2.3

[root@server ~]# apachectl -V
