If a dialog window is not appearing after clicking on “Get Latest Version” in Microsoft Visual SourceSafe 6.0 when you are trying to get the latest version of files for a folder or project then it could be due to the below reason:
You may have accidentally clicked on the checkbox “only show the dialog when the shift key is down”. Try holding down the Shift key while clicking on the Get Latest Version. This should force the dialog to appear.
Please uncheck the “only show the dialog when the shift key is down” checkbox to ensure that you don’t have to hold down Shift every time while getting the latest version of a folder or project.
Now you can easily get the latest version of the files.
